Heather Salden Kurtz, USDF Certified Trainer and Erin Boltik, USDF Gold Medalist will be teaching us how to choreograph a musical freestyle.
Preference will be given to KCDS Adult Amateurs first, then, only if needed to fill the clinic, to Open Division Riders, and then to JR/YR Division Riders. If the clinic does not fill with KCDS members, Region 4 riders will be selected next (same order: AA, Open, JR/YR). Riders of all divisions should apply now.
Option #1-You create your own musical program: - $450
Saturday is a 1 hour lesson with Heather to determine horse’s strengths and weaknesses and a 1 hour musical consultation with Erin to demo free and easy music software. Sunday includes a 1 hour lesson with Heather to go over choreography and one hour with Erin to continue working on music selections. After this clinic, you will be able to go home with your choreography and song selections to complete your own music. Includes 2 nights of stabling.
Option #2 - Hoofbeats creates your musical program: $450+
Includes a 1 hour lesson with Heather to determine horse’s strengths and weaknesses and a 1 hour musical consultation with Erin to discuss music genres that you like and may fit your horse. Sunday includes a 1 hour lesson with Heather to go over choreography and try riding to several music samples. We will also video your choreography. Then, Erin will set to work on your freestyle. The final fee, based on freestyle level listed below, will be due upon completion of the music. This option has an overall savings of $200-$400 depending on level. Includes 2 nights of stabling.

Auditors are encouraged and welcome! Lunch will be provided. $15 per day, $20 for the weekend. KCDS members $10 per day, $15 for the weekend.

Riders will be chosen by blind drawing on September 29. Riders will be contacted if their name is drawn. At that time, a waiting list will be established. Symposium fees will be due on October 12. If a participant hasn't paid, they will be removed and riders from the waiting list will be invited.
Rider refund policy: If there is a replacement rider available willing to pay the fee, there will be a full refund. If the horse becomes lame or sick, and there is no replacement rider available, there will be a 50% refund if there is a veterinarian's note to verify the horse's inability to participate.
