Meet JJ Tate:
Jessica Jo “JJ” Tate has been training and showing for over 30 years. Earning numerous national and regional titles, JJ has successfully competed over 30 horses at the FEI levels. Known for her classical education and elegant riding, she is a top competitor whose devotion to the very highest standards of horsemanship and integrity makes her a positive role model in the contemporary dressage world. JJ has been long-listed for the World Equestrian Games and represented the United States in competitions abroad.
A highly sought-after clinician, JJ is a gifted teacher who happily works with any horse and rider at any level, sharing her program based on humane, compassionate, and systematic development of the horse through classical dressage.
JJ created her USDF University-accredited online training program, Team Tate Academy, because she believes everyone should have access to high-level training and education regardless of where they live or what kind of horse they ride. A Weekend of Classical Education
The Kansas City Dressage Society (KCDS) is proud to present a two-day educational symposium with renowned trainer, competitor, and classical dressage advocate, JJ Tate.
Known for her compassionate, systematic approach and highly engaging teaching style, JJ focuses on developing a joyful, willing partnership between horse and rider. This weekend is designed for the entire dressage community. Whether you are navigating the fundamentals of Training Level, finessing the Grand Prix, or simply looking to expand your equestrian knowledge from the sidelines, this symposium offers invaluable insights into biomechanics, cross-training, and classical horsemanship.
This symposium will be held at KV Dressage in Kansas City, KS (13380 Donahoo Road). This is conviently located near highways 435 and I-70 and the Kansas City International Airport. There are hotels and restaurants within 10 minutes.
Rides will begin at 8 a.m and run until approximately 5:30 each day. Saturday will feature a lecture after lunch and Sunday there will be a Q&A with JJ after lunch.
The cost to ride is $300 per/day and priority will be given to KCDS members and those riding both days.
Auditors will cost the following:
KCDS members $50 for the weekend or $35/day.
Non-members $75 for the weekend or $40/day.
Lunch is not included but may be purchased on site for $15/day.
There will be door prizes and auditor bags. Look for more details on possible vendors or a raffle.

Ride with JJ Tate
We are currently accepting applications for horse-and-rider combinations to participate in the symposium. KCDS is committed to selecting a diverse lineup of riders—including Adult Amateurs, Young Riders, and Professionals—across various breeds and training levels to create a well-rounded educational experience for the riders and audience.

Riders Announced: July 31st
Rider Fee: $300/ride. Priority given to riders who are KCDS members and who apply to ride both days. Please note the fee does not include stabling but does include auditing and lunch both days.
Stabling: Stalls will be obtained directly through KV Dressage. Contact info@kvdressage.com for information or to reserve a stall.
Caveat: Fees needs to be paid in full within five days of receiving your acceptancance email. If you pay and are unable to attend and there is a wait-list your spot can be filled and you will be refunded. If there is not a wait-list you must find your own replacement. No refunds will be given.

Auditing is one of the most effective ways to train your eye and absorb new techniques. Our symposium is structured to provide an interactive, highly educational experience for the audience. JJ will provide real-time commentary, explaining the "why" behind her exercises.

Comprehensive welcome packet with rider bios, schedules, and note-taking guides.
Dedicated Lecture on Saturday and Q&A session on Sunday with JJ Tate.

Auditor Cost:
Cost for KCDS members is $50 for two days, $35 for one day. Non-member cost is $75 for two days or $40 for one day.
Lunch is available for purchase at $15 per day.
